Nebb develops and have qualified subsea Variable Speed Drives (VSD) for operations down to 3000 m.

Key characteristics:

  • Small - competing solutions are many times bigger.
  • Proven - thousands sold for onshore use.
  • Flexible - operates many types of motors: induction machines, permanent magnet and servo motors.
  • Robust - tolerate vibration, shock and electrical fluctuations. ISO 13628-6/API 17F.

Power transmission to subsea pumps and other power consumers are usually hydraulic from topside. In some cases, electric power transmission to a subsea motor is used, with a VSD placed topside.

Subsea VSDs have only been available for small electric motors so far, and this has limited the freedom of subsea process/production systems design. With Nebb's subsea VSDs, this limitation is gone.

ESP (electrical submersible pumping) - downhole pumping.

Water injection - for maintaining well pressure.
